To research novel approaches for RAN planning and optimisation.
To develop automatic radio network planning and optimization tools for 3G/B3G/4G mobile and wireless communications networks such as UMTS/HSPA, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX and 3GPP LTE.
To provide network planning and optimisation consulting services for GSM/GPRS, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000, Wi-Fi and WiMAX.
To provide training courses on RAN planning and optimisation and emerging wireless technologies.
The current main focus of Ranplan is on the R&D of advanced radio network planning and optimisation tools. The tools include automatic cell planning (ACP) tools, fast dynamic simulation tools, advanced network optimization tools for UMTS/HSPA, TD-SCDMA and WMAN (WiMAX). The adoption of these tools can normally save operators 20-30% when planning their network infrastructure, or increase the network capacity of existing network infrastructures by 20-30%.

Research and Development
